The newest addition to the scene, the creation of Maison Margiela and Reebok, draws on the design codes evolved by creative director John Galliano. Expressing the characteristics of the French fashion house through one of the sportswear brand’s most recognizable designs, the Club C sneaker marries innovation with nostalgia, and fashion with functionality in a contemporary design with a timeless appeal.

Of course, this builds on the popularity of Reebok‘s original Club C tennis shoe, which was launched in 1985 and which first straddled the line between sports and fashion. That iconic design now benefits from Maison Margiela’s house technique, the trompe l’oeil, with each sneaker constructed from a single piece of flat leather, and the one-cut upper printed with a scanned image of Reebok’s original Club C shoe.

The effect mimics every stitch, curve, and shadow of the classic design, set across a contemporary 3D canvas, and achieving a 2D optical illusion that’s key to the visual language of the Paris-based fashion house.

Available in white, black, vibrant red, and a khaki hue the house calls natural, the new Club C is an innovation of technology and a tribute to a true classic.
