Punch Room Singapore has launched as the new Little Blue Dot cocktail list which honour the origins of punch as a timeless sailor’s libation.
It’s one thing to sip a well-made cocktail – who doesn’t like that? – and another to sip one that’s got a story or two behind it. Not only do the classics always hit the spot, but they come with the appeal of history behind them, of innovation in times past, of a deeper context than simply slapping spirits and mixers into a glass.

If cocktails with history is your thing, you’ll likely want to make a beeline for one of Singapore’s newest watering holes, the Punch Room, which has launched a new cocktail list inspired by the Lion City’s rich nautical trade heritage. Laced with the myths and memories of Singapore and the Malay Peninsula’s trade history, Little Blue Dot is the first volume of a mixology series at the Edition Singapore bar, one that puts the magnifying glass on the punch cocktail category through the untold stories and urban legends of Singapore’s past, with each cocktail an exploration of the rich historic tapestry that makes this region so unique.
Volume 1: Little Blue Dot has been conceptualised and curated by head bartender Logaraj I M (affectionately known as Loga), and Punch Room manager Ang Kye Seng, along with Giovanni Graziadei, director of bars at The Singapore EDITION, to reflect the mystery surrounding the origins of punch through 12 unique expressions of the cocktail style.

Highlights of the new menu include the Tempest Punch, a refined mix of gin and rum, enhanced by cucumber, lime, coriander seed, and jasmine silver needle tea, inspired by the legendary Prince Sang Nila Utama, the founder of the Kingdom of Singapura in 1299. The heady Straits Punch combines Botanist gin, Suntory Kakubin whisky, ruby port, pomegranate, spiced lemon, and earl grey, and is now enhanced by cinnamon in honour of Singapore’s first Resident Commander, William Farquhar.
Alternatively, Kusu Island Punch offers a fresh, bright choice with Roku Gin, sparkling sake, pandan, yuzu, and sencha tea, while bold and complex Daeng’s Punch is a robust mix of Bacardi Ocho rum, Nikka Coffey grain whisky, Muyu vetiver, betel leaf, starfruit, and assam tea, celebrating Temmengong Daeng Ibrahim, ruler of neighbouring Johor and honoured as a successful former pirates turned pirate hunter.
If you’re a visual fellow, you’ll also enjoy the stories of the new menu, which have been brought to life by local illustrator Kristal Melson, who is known for her work as the curator for the Facebook Artist in Residence programme and as the former art director for Kult. Kristal’s bold, bright visual illustrations cleverly blend fact and fiction.
