A new collaborative smartphone from Land Rover and Bullitt Group promises to keep up with life’s little adventures.
So, you’d like to think you live a rather rugged lifestyle? You might not be single-handedly putting out oil rig fires or standing in for Bear Grylls when things get too hairy for the wee Brit, but that’s not to say you don’t endure more than your fair share of bumpy roads. And it may be that conventional technology doesn’t keep up with your overly-active lifestyle – and we simply can’t have that, can we?
Fortuitously, Land Rover, makers of iconic 4×4 beasts, has teamed up with the Bullitt Group to create a phone that’s made to last. The Land Rover Explore Outdoor Phone isn’t the world’s first rugged mobile, but it is made for people who put life through its paces.
Featuring design cues taken from the Land Rover Discovery, the new phone features a powerful 4000mAh battery that allows for constant GPS navigation mapping via the 5-inch HD display that’s wet or gloved finger compatible.

That tremendous battery life (which works out as two days at typical use or a full day when used to extremes) can also be doubled with the Adventure Pack, which not only adds premium topographical mapping with Skyline augmented reality thanks to ViewRanger, but also replaces the need for a separate GPS device thanks to its patch antenna.
In addition, an easy user interface allows for instant access to weather conditions and sensor data, as well as to Land Rover InControl apps and Explore Hub, a curated app portal packed with features.

Of course, the phone is also drop resistant, comes with a factory fitted screen protector, and has an IP68 rating, which means it’s as at home in mud and salt water as it is on a hot dashboard or vibrating engine block. There’s a handy SOS flashlight; a night red filter mode to reduce screen glare; and dual sim cards for increased connectivity.
Because you never know how wild things might get.
