Kuromaru, a new destination for vinyl-enthusiasts and cocktail-lovers, opens in Wan Chai.
It’s been a tough couple of years for the Hong Kong cocktail bar scene (and continues to be) but that doesn’t mean there are not entrepreneurs with an eye at the end of the tunnel opening new venues. The newest to join Wan Chai’s watering hole ranks blends good music with premium shochu cocktails.

Located at Japanese-Western dining concept Maison Meiji, at Mallory Street’s historic M7 complex, Kuromaru is a music lounge and shochu cocktail bar by the talented souls at Mizunara: The Library.
Promising casual cuisine and a welcoming ambience, the new venue is helmed by bartending talents Masahiko Endo and Massimo Petovello, who will channel the bar’s theme – the culturally-transformative Meiji Restoration period of Japan – into delectable shochu and awamori cocktails laced with spirit sourced from across Japan.

The team has sourced some of Japan’s finest indigenous spirits, including coveted drops like Daiyame 40 and the fruity Hachi Shochu, which it will shake, swirl and build into contemporary cocktails set against an elegant yet laid back vibe thanks to music curated by Michael Ho.
Guests will also be able to pair their drinks with an innovative menu by chef Yusuke Kitade that includes his take on karaage, Mentaiko pasta, and a Wagyu steak hamburger.
