Spanning over two floors, rooftop restaurant and bar Kaboom is the newest addition to Kowloon’s leisure drinking scene.
Escapism is defined as “the tendency to seek distraction and relief from unpleasant realities, especially by seeking entertainment or engaging in fantasy” and who couldn’t do with a little of that after the last few years in Hong Kong? Fortunately, a new hidden rooftop enclave in Hong Kong’s Tsim Sha Tsui promises respite from the rigours of the urban lifestyle.
Boasting panoramic harbour views and Southeast Asian beachside vibe that’s rare in built up Hong Kong, Kaboom, on Peking Road, spans two floors and features parasols and plush rattan chairs, while the equally spacious indoor lounge below, dressed in the same rattan chairs as well as wooden tables and decorative lamps, is beautifully designed with floor-to-ceiling windows to allow guests to enjoy the views of Hong Kong island.

Combined, the spaces set the scene for innovative cocktails named for the many sentiments shared by the urban warrior (try the No More OT Please) and Southeast Asian-inspired bar bites that include 5 Spices Roasted Crispy Cauliflower, Corn on Cob in 3 ways, and Single Bone Chicken Wings.

For something a little more substantial, try the golden fried rice topped with grilled pork chop and spiced tomato gravy; Typhoon Shelter-style crab pasta; or zucchini noodles in chorizo cream sauce with seared scallops.
