If you’re looking to escape to a place of palm trees and cocktails with little umbrellas, JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort Suites has opened in Southern Thailand.
We suspect travel is on your mind about now, and with good reason – you never miss something until you can’t have it, right? As you start to make plans for your next escape, you’ll probably prioritise destinations that are relatively close to home (just in case), and which offer the warm evenings and sun-kissed beaches that a weary soul seeks. We think we have the perfect spot.

Recently opened in one of Thailand’s most popular beach towns, JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort Suites, an all-suite luxury retreat nestled in a serene beachside setting on southern Thailand’s Andaman coast, has opened just north of Phuket.
Just an hour’s drive north of Phuket’s international airport, Khao Lak is famed for its tranquil charm, golden sandy beaches, scuba diving and outdoorsy, vibe, which we think is just what the doctor would order. The new resort boasts a selection of just 52 stylish and spacious two-bedroom suites, making it perfect for couples as well as families and friends escaping together. Each features bright indoor and outdoor spaces, Southern Thai-inspired design, contemporary living areas and private terraces or balconies that overlook the natural tropical surroundings.
On the ground floor, a collection of pool access suites allows guests to step straight into the inviting waters of Southeast Asia’s longest swimming pool – a sparkling 2.4 kilometer-long lagoon that features a water slide, a wave pool, and even an aqua trampoline for the active-inclined. Keep an eye out for the resort’s Coconut Boat, which cruises around the lagoon every day loaded with fresh, ice-cold coconuts.
JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort Suites will share the extensive facilities of the adjacent JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa, including the Aqua Play Zone, a fully-equipped fitness center, racket sports, and the Quan Spa, which offers holistic healing therapies from traditional Thai massages to revitalizing body wraps and scrubs, many of which use organic coconut oil produced onsite at the resort. A series of serene spaces, including cozy cabanas, offer urban warriors a little respite from the world beyond, while Khuk Khak Beach offers the tropical escape many of us are dying for.
You’ll also dine well with the resort’s collection of 11 restaurants and bars including Sala Restaurant & Pool Bar, an inviting all-day venue; and DRIFT Beach Bar & Grill, a meat and seafood grill restaurant inspired by regional Mediterranean cuisine.
