Celebrating Mercedes-AMG’s 50th anniversary, IWC Schaffhausen has created a special, limited- edition titanium-encased Ingenieur Chronograph inspired by its Ingenieur collection and the brake discs of Mercedes’ most remarkable marques.
It’s nice when luxury brands recognise pedigree and precision in each other. This is especially common when it comes to luxury car and watch brands, where the pursuit of both performance and beauty acts as a binding inspiration.
The new Ingenieur Chronograph Sport Edition “50th Anniversary of Mercedes-AMG” is reminiscent of IWC’s classic lines from the 1950s and combines precision engineering with a spectacular design. Limited to 250 watches, the Ref. IW380902 is driven by the IWC-manufactured 89361 calibre with flyback function and features a case crafted in titanium, with a dial with a tachymeter scale in silver-plating.
Like the first Ingenieur from 1955, this timepiece is protected from magnetic fields by a soft-iron cage, the lower half of which is visible through the sapphire-glass back and emulates the appearance of an AMG brake disc with indentations arranged in a radial formation.
The engraving “A tribute to one man, one engine” is a reminder that the performance components from Mercedes-AMG are assembled from the bottom up in the engine manufacturing department by a single mechanic.
