Indulge in your secret passion for good American whiskey with a new Michter’s Rye Whisky supper menu at Hong Kong’s Hue Dining.
Are you a lad that knows his rye from his sour mash? Do you secretly covet Manhattans when the rest of the lads are downing martinis and do you appreciate the influence of oak like a photographer appreciates morning light? Then perhaps the new Whisky Supper Menu at modern Australian restaurant Hue in Tsim Sha Tsui, which showcases a range of Michter’s whiskies, might be for you.

Available from September 23 until October 29, 2021, the new collaborative menu celebrates the limited release of Michter’s US*1 Barrel Strength Rye Whiskey, the first time one of the distillery’s barrel strength ryes has been available outside the Kentucky heartland since April 2019.

So what makes the rye so special? Only barrels that have reached peak maturity have been selected to highlight the nuances of Michter’s top single barrel rye, with an average proof from the barrels of 55.1% ABV. This is achieved by a method that’s unique to Michter’s, who add the distillate to the barrel at a lower proof; as the whiskey matures it increases its ABV as it loses its “angel’s share” and the result is a barrel strength spirit that’s rich, complex, mellow and as smooth as chilled silk sheets.

Inspired by the flavour profile of the new release, Hue’s supper menu is available at the restaurant’s lounge on Thursdays and Fridays from 8:30 pm. Priced at HK$550++ per person, it includes a selection of savoury and sweet items paired with four Michter’s whiskies – including all the butterscotch, toasted vanilla and cinnamon glory of Michter’s US*1 Barrel Strength Rye Whiskey, served neat – and bourbon cocktails.

The supper experience also includes a short presentation by a Michter’s representative on the history of the brand, allowing guests to learn about the whiskies while enjoying an inspired pairing – think smoked mackerel Beignet topped with aioli and olive; fried chicken served with taramasalata and salmon roe; brown butter potato pave topped with lamb belly and gai lan; and whiskey-glazed Croque Monsieur – and soaking in the exquisite panoramic views of stunning Victoria Harbour.

As you can imagine, the new menu will be popular so we suggest you gather the lads and book sharpish.
