Hong Kong craft distillery Two Moons has collaborated with speakeasy Room 309 to create The Return of Five Flowers Tea Gin with a new formula.
Initially co-created by the team behind award-winning local distillery Two Moons and creative speakeasy bar Room 309 as a limited-edition collaboration, the Two Moons x Room 309 Five Flowers Tea Gin is back with a revamped for the summer months upon us.
Inspired by the traditional healing wisdom of the popular Chinese herbal remedy, this all-new Five Flowers Tea Gin arrives to coincide with a series of crystal healing-themed cocktails at Room 309 and is available from 17 June to 23 July, merging the soothing nature of this herbal drink with the mystical power of crystals.
Embodying the sense of comfort and relief, five flowers herbal tea has long been a popular concoction in Hong Kong, and one known to detoxify the body and expell heat and fatigue. Two Moons and Room 309 takes the ancient wisdom of this quick-fix remedy, passed down through generations of herbal tea shops, and reinterprets it into an earthy, herbal and soothing gin, perfect for the swanky, urban-dweller.
Two Moons has carefully selected five flowers, including frangipani, chrysanthemum, silk cotton, and honeysuckle, to create a perfectly balanced gin, abundant with delicate and floral characters found in the ancient drink.
You’ll encounter the natural sweetness of Five Flowers Tea Gin in the Rose Quartz, a blend of pear juice with a mild hint of spice from a house-made ginger cordial and clouds of frothy yoghurt seasoned with Campari salt sprinkles.
Alternatively, embark on a revitalizing journey with Citrine, a drink that promotes positive energies to clear the mind, strengthen intellect and boost motivation. Pushing beyond the typical sweet and bitter spectrum, this tipple dials in on the herbal and earthy profile of Five Flowers Tea Gin, enhanced with a tropical essence made from fresh passionfruit puree and pandan syrup before finishing off with a delicate bittersweetness from hops-infused Cachaca.
Aventurine will activate your inner courage with fresh kale juice and natural sugarcane sweetness as well as a peppery undertone from green chartreuse and the soft bittersweetness of Five Flowers Tea Gin; while Clear Quartz offers the most direct way to enjoy the new gin, with main notes of chrysanthemum, self-heal and frangipani harmoniously married together with Fever-Tree Indian Tonic.
