FCC Angkor by Avani has collaborated with Herbal Kulen Gin to bring a unique, organic taste of Cambodia to its celebrated Scribe Bar
It’s always nice to have an excuse to travel – a friend’s wedding, a music festival, a chance to embrace a new hobby. And if you’re a lad who likes a drink from time to time, it’s also nice to explore a destination through its homegrown spirits, meaning a chance to travel in the name of craft gin – well, that’s just something special, isn’t it?

If Cambodia’s vibrant cultural capital of Siem Reao is on the travel radar (and it should be), you might want to make a beeline for the FCC Angkor, which has collaborated with local moonshine Herbal Kulen Gin to create a rather intriguing afternoon’s foray as well as a few thirst-quenchers for when you return.
Thanks to the new collaborations, guests at FCC Angkor by Avani can now venture into the foothills of the Kulen Mountains to visit the home of Herbal Kulen Gin and take a tour around the lush gardens and distillery before enjoying a private gin tasting with Unn “Pari” Sophary, the creator of Herbal Kulen Gin.

The spirit’s unique flavour profile is shaped by botanicals – including lemongrass and citronella – cultivated in the medicinal forest garden Pari has nurtured from previously deforested land. Distilled in small batches of just 180 bottles, the gin pays tribute to the vibrant Cambodian ecosystem and its rich traditions.
Afterwards, make for the hotel’s Scribe Bar, where a range of new cocktails are laced with the craft spirit, and include the Cambodian Negroni, a fusion of Herbal Kulen Gin, sweet vermouth, and Campari; and the Apsara Sour, a homage to regional botanicals that features Herbal Kulen Gin, butterfly pea tea, lemongrass syrup and lime juice.
A trip worth raising a glass to.
