Many of you are parents now, so you understand the subtle balance that fatherhood requires. You want to love and nurture your kids, but you also want to lead them and teach them right from wrong, which often makes you the bad guy (till they have kids themselves). You want to inspire your children, build them up when they’re down, and celebrate their achievements with them because before long you’re only seeing them on Father’s Day and the odd weekend. Now’s your chance to take your old man out for a decent meal and a chance to share the fruits of his labours.

Harbourside Grill, Tsim Sha Tsui
For a great dining experience and some of the city’s best harbour views, make for new opening Harbourside Grill at the Ocean Terminal. Here, acclaimed chef and Roux Scholarship-recipient Armand Sablon will present a grill-centric Father’s Day menu laced with French finesse.
Priced at HK$688 per person, the restaurant’s four-course Father’s Day menu is available during lunch and dinner service on June 21, while a selection of a la carte dishes will be also available all day.

The meal commences with flavourful chicken and foie gras terrine with tarragon, served with toasted sourdough. Guests then will indulge in one of the restaurant’s most popular dishes, pan-fried sea bass served with crushed potatoes and lobster bisque.
To follow, the Angus fillet is perfectly grilled in the Spanish Josper Grill, forming an instantaneous crust around the meat. The steak is served with braised beef cheek, pomme anna potatoes and truffle sauce, this dish is guaranteed to make all fathers feel contented.
Guests finish with a true crowd-pleaser, the chef’s special milk chocolate delice, which is served with salted caramel ice cream.

Henry, Victoria Dockside
Did someone say all you can eat prime rib and BBQ? If you and your old man have a craving for good beef, you might consider Henry, one of the new openings at Rosewood Hong Kong. Here, well-known chef Nate Green, himself no stranger to great beef cuts, presents a Father’s Day Brunch Menu that pays homage to the American steak tradition.
The two-hour feast, available June 21 from 11 am – 1 pm or 1.30 pm – 3.30 pm and priced at HK$1,200 per person, the brunch includes starters ranging from Fine de Claire oysters with bourbon mignonette; and steak tartare with egg yolk puree; through to butcher’s shop terrine with house chutney; and smoked eggplant salad with pickled walnuts and Bayley Hazen Blue.
Mains ramp things up a bit, with USDA prime rib, rotisserie chicken, Snake River Farm pork belly, and roast Elysian Fields lamb leg, all of which is served sharing style.

Hue, Tsim Sha Tsui
For unrivalled views and spectacular modern Australian cuisine, head for Hue, at the Hong Kong Museum of Art. We’re already fans of this elegant harbourfront eatery and you will be too with the Father’s Day brunch menu, priced at HK$430 per person and available June 21. This includes shared appetisers – think pulled lamb croquette with harissa; burrata with parsley oil and peas; ocean trout whipped cod roe and salmon caviar; and Wagyu mini pies with rhubarb and beetroot ketchup – as well as one main dish and one dessert per person.
Mains range from pork belly served with smoked chestnuts and pumpkin mole; and Wagyu beef cheek with caramelised cauliflower puree and watercress salad; to delicate hamachi and artichokes dressed with chicken sauce and topped with smoked herring caviar; and yam and ricotta pasta with kale and hazelnuts.

A two-hour free-flow package priced at HK$300 per person offers pretty great value and includes Taittinger Brut Reserve champagne, a selection of 10 premium red and white wines, and bar manager Steffen’s popular Bloody Marys, which will go nicely with desserts like the zesty lemon tart with yoghurt cream; and Basque cheesecake with rhubarb and raspberry.
Hue will also offer a three-course Father’s Day dinner, complete with interactive table-side magic performances by illusionist Lawrence Sullivan, priced at HK$750 per person.
Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour, North Point
Stay classy with a visit to the city’s newest international hotel, Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong, where a special Father’s Day buffet has something for everyone. At Cruise, the hotel’s cruise ship-inspired restaurant, the Father’s Day Lunch Menu is designed for a minimum of two to share (a la carte is also available) and is priced at HK$490 per person, with free-flow for three hours for just HK$140 per person. You’ll feast on poached shrimp and spicy pork larb rice paper rolls, kingfish sashimi, Black Angus sirloins, and free-range chicken in lemongrass and tamarind. Be sure to leave room for the restaurant’s popular Tropical Cruise Alaska desert.

Alternatively, the hotel’s Farmhouse restaurant has a Meaty Dinner Buffet for father’s and their lads that combine the essentials – meat, fire, and beer. This farm-to-table styled buffet is packed with quality meat, including New Zealand lamb racks, whole-roasted pork, beef short ribs, free-range chicken, and USDA prime ribeye carved at the table. There is also fresh seafood and both Indian and Cantonese dishes available. The dinner buffet is available June 20 and 21 from 7.30 pm, and is priced at HK$678 per person.
Big Sur, SoHo
Central Hong Kong’s very own Californian cookout restaurant Big Sur will offer a top-notch barbecue family feast for Father’s Day. The family menu is available during lunch and dinner service on June 20 and 21 and is priced HK$825 for four people, including two Young Master craft beers.
The Big Sur feast plenty of barbeque goodness, including succulent smoked pork ribs; smoked half chicken; and melt-in-your-mouth beef ribs, while side dishes include Mexican corn on the cobb, crispy fries, coleslaw, beans, and market salad.

Modelled on a traditional California diner, Big Sur is a venue that evolves through the day so you’ll have to forgive your father if, after his meal, all he wants to do is slowly work his way through the restaurant’s 14 craft tap beers, or perhaps its impressive mezcal selection. After all, it’s his special day.
FRITES, Locations across the city
The Belgians know a thing or two about sitting down to a great meal and a few superb beers so treat the old fella to a special roasted suckling pig dinner at FRITES, priced at HK$1,350 for 4-5 diners.
The feast, which must be ordered a minimum of 72 hours in advance – includes the one little piggie that didn’t get away, as well as two sides of roasted potatoes, and a fresh tomato and goats cheese salad. While the meal is available as takeaway in case you want to entertain the family at home, we suggest you dine in and make the most of the venue’s extensive Trappist beer selection, brews loving produced by men of the cloth.

PIIN Wine Restaurant, Central
For a truly elegant escape, make for Michelin-recommended PIIN Wine Restaurant, a haven for gourmands and oenophiles. This Father’s Day, PIIN’s all native-Hong Kong culinary team, will pair the restaurant’s sumptuous array of timeless Cantonese dishes with a curated selection of Japanese whiskies and the restaurant’s breathtaking interiors.
The special Father’s Day menu includes dome of drunken chicken, paired with Akashi White Oak Blended Whisky; braised garoupa with bean curd skin paired with Chichibu Ichiro‘s Malt Wine Wood Reserve; and “PIIN” stir-fry delicacy paired with Hibiki Japanese Harmony.

Other timeless dishes include braised pork belly with preserved vegetables, which is a great match with Yamazakura – Asaka Distillery Newborn Single Cask #17701; and the signature black garlic fried rice, paired with Highland Park Dragon Legend.
Finish with a moreish deep-fried custard ball with chocolate whisky filling, which is paired with Nikka From the Barrel 80th Anniversary, which will be served from a rare 3-litre bottle.
The six-course Father’s Day dinner menu is priced at HK$780 per person (and an additional HK$680 for the whisky pairing) and is available from June 10 until June 20. Unique wine options, taken from the cellars of PIIN’s owners, who also own two Burgundy wineries, Château de Meursault and Château de Marsannay, are also available, with 2008 vintage releases of these coveted wines served from Jeroboam bottles.

District 8, Elements Mall
For something a little more casual and family-friendly, head to Elements Mall Civic Square’s newest opening. French bistro District 8, which takes its inspiration from the street side bistros of Paris’s iconic 8th arrondissement, will be serving up a family steak set menu all day from 12 pm on June 21 – be sure to book ahead for one of the new restaurant’s coveted alfresco tables.
This feast includes a range fo sharing dishes like buffalo milk burrata with peas and mint, dressed with parsley oil; salumi platter; and Rangers Valley Wagyu ribeye served with king mushrooms and kale, with sides of frites and house salad.

For dessert, choose from dark chocolate tart served with whisky cream and berries; or a cheese platter of Brillat de Savarin with triple cream and cow milk cheese, with quince puree and sourdough. The set meal also includes two dishes from the kid’s menu, which ranges from mini cheeseburgers to battered fish and frites.
The set menu, which is priced at HK$1,250 is designed for two adults and two children.
