Welcome the Year of the Dog with a suitably special new addition to the Davidoff Zodiac collection, says Cigar Editor Samuel Spurr.
Chinese New Year is just a few weeks away and to mark the occasion, Davidoff Cigars has launched a highly exclusive Year of the Dog 2018 Limited Edition.
The 7 x 50 Gran Churchill cigar and accompanying accessories make this 2018 Limited Edition the perfect gift for anyone who wants to celebrate Chinese New Year in style. The collection’s travel humidor has a capacity of eight cigars and can be adapted for both large and small cigars by way of an innovative, removable tray.
This is another fantastic release from the Davidoff Zodiac series, according to Laurent de Rougemont, managing director of Davidoff of Geneva Asia.
“The Davidoff Year of the Dog Limited Edition 2018 is the perfect gift for anyone who wants to celebrate the Chinese New Year,” says de Rougemont from Davidoff of Geneva Asia’s Hong Kong office. “Highly anticipated by collectors and aficionados across the globe, this limited edition will delight the fortunate few who will manage to acquire it. There is no better way to celebrate than with this cigar.”
An Ecuadorian Habano Claro leaf wraps a Dominican San Vicente Seco binder and San Vicente Ligero, Piloto Visus, Piloto Seco (Dominican Republic) and Estelí Seco (Nicaragua) fillers.
The cigar’s pre-light flavours include iced chocolate and vanilla bean. The cigar begins with a strong spice and black pepper aroma and rich leather and earth flavours which are thick on the palate.
Towards the middle of the cigar, the intensity dissipates slightly, with a dried fruit aroma and a slight lemon zest flavour coming to the fore. Remnants of the pepper and spice flavours remain in the final third, while lovely cedar and oak aromas complemented by vanilla bean and espresso flavours can be enjoyed.
Cigar lovers keen to celebrate Chinese New Year with this limited edition better be quick as only 9,000 Year of the Dog cigar boxes are available worldwide.
