If you’ve not visited yet, the Tong Chong Street Market (“TCSM”) was created in 2015 and are held in Taikoo Place. The markets sell fresh, locally-produced foods, including organic fruits and vegetables grown by local farmers. In addition to supporting Hong Kong farmers, the TCSM aims to educate on the importance of food cycles and sustainable production. The pop-up will be the Sheung Wan restaurant’s first foray into the east of Hong Kong Island.
The extensive Chachawan pop-up menu is sure to satiate cravings for Thai food, including refreshing salads, traditional mains, sweet desserts and thirst-quenching drinks. Look out for Som Dtum Thai, a pounded green papaya salad with cherry tomatoes, chilli, dried shrimp, and peanuts with a sweet and sour tamarind dressing; and Pad Kra Prao Moo, stir-fried minced pork and basil, Thai garlic, chilli, pepper, and spicy sauce served with Thai jasmine rice.
There’s also Phad Thai stir-fried noodles with prawns, tofu, sweet tamarind, peanuts, and chilli; and Gai Yang, grilled chicken thigh marinated for 24 hours in garlic, pepper, coriander, and jhim jeaw sauce and served with Thai jasmine rice.
