Popular Hong Kong restaurant Chachawan reopens with an exciting new look and a range of tantilising new northeastern Thai dishes.
When Chachawan first opened on Hollywood Road seven years back, dynamic young Aussie chef Adam Cliff (now at Samsen) introduced the city to the fiery dishes of Thailand’s Isaan province. Since then, the vibrant JIA Group eatery has maintained a loyal following while so many others have fallen to the wayside.

Now, with a new look and direction, husband-and-wife chef duo Chang and Narisara Somboon (who have been with the restaurant since its opening) begin Chachawah’s next chapter, with new industrial-chic decor, and new dishes that are guaranteed to help you fend off the winter months ahead.
Open for lunch and dinner, the new-look Chachawan lands a three punch spicy, sweet, and sour flavour combo to the face, with an unapologetically bold rendition of regional Isaan cuisine served amidst raw and relaxed interiors that include exposed brick, naked cement, and the eatery’s popular open kitchen counter.

Focusing on grilled meats and salads, the restaurant’s new additions include som dtum kao pod, corn salad with salted egg, cherry tomatoes, chili, and a tamarind dressing; moo manaw, a spicy pork salad with lime, kale, garlic, and mint; and goong fu, crispy minced prawn with green mango. Also look out for deep-friend soft-shell crab; grilled Wagyu beef; deep-fried pork belly with a tangy tamarind sauce; classic phad thai; and rice noodles with spicy pork and dried red cotton flowers in a tomato broth.
Chachawan’s popular lunch sets continue, now with the addition of tom yum gai ban, a spicy and sour chicken soup with galangal, lemongrass, and kaffir lime; and Khao Pad, wok-fried rice with crab meat, eggs, and spring onions.
