If you’re looking to explore the world’s coffeescape without having to invest in heavy machinery or plane tickets, the Cayu Coffee Company is for you.
So, you take your coffee seriously huh? You’ve driven across the city to get the right grind, you’ve lectured your colleagues and friends on the subtle differences between Sumatran and Ethiopian Highlands, and ejected poor bed companions because they had the audacity to bring you Starbucks the morning after. We recognise you’re a man of passions, so this new addition to the Hong Kong brewscape will have you gagging for a fix.

The Cayu Coffee Company specialises in drip bag coffee, that quick and simple brewing technique so favoured by weary homicide detectives, long-distance truckers, and guys working the graveyard to NORAD. Essentially open coffee bags you place in a cup, simply pour boiling water into the bag and wait for the magic to happen.
Perfect for lads that haven’t invested in a coffee machine and grinder but still enjoy a cup of Joe, the initial drip bag releases from Cayu include three collections, each packed with a variety of coffee styles. Named The Mood, The Sweets and The Whisky, these coffee bag selections may not be for purists but offer coffee lovers an impressive variety that includes the likes of Mandheling from Sumatra, Kenya AA Top, Colombia Purple Caturra, and Panama Caturra.

Be warned, if you like your coffee black and so strong the teaspoon stands to attention, Cayu has laced the blends of The Sweets with dessert flavourings – yep, we’re shaking our heads too – ranging from vanilla and creamy butter to caramel, custard, and cream. However, they promise no calories so we don’t tell if you don’t.

Interestingly, The Whisky goes in the other direction, featuring coffee beans that have been aged in single malt whisky barrels formerly owned by Auchentoshan, from the Scottish lowlands. Each bag boasts coffee grounds that have been aged for a different time period so you can track the influence of the spirit on the beans.
While you wait for your hands to start twitching once again.
