Hong Kong’s national carrier has tweaked the recipe of its acclaimed signature brew and released Betsy Beer 2.0 in time for the festive travel season.
Allow us to paint a picture for you: you’re sitting on a plane, bound for far-flung corners of the world, potentially for a family festive foray. For many of us, the very thought is enough to build up a mighty thirst, especially if we have hours to kill. If you’re flying Cathay Pacific, then you’ll be in luck, as the carrier has not only released the second generation of its craft brew Betsy, but has also made the pale ale available to the masses.
Crafted by Hong Kong brewers Gweilo Beer, Betsy was first launched in 2017 and was named for the airline’s first aircraft, a hardy DC-3 prop plane. Initially available only at the pointy end of the plane, first and business class passengers got to sample a brew specifically designed to be enjoyed at altitude.
Now, with Besty Beer 2.0, the airline has not only tweaked this lofty lager’s original recipe, upping the beer’s mandarin orange notes to better suit palates at 35,000ft but has also made it available across all classes, with bottles in First and Business Class and stylish cans in premium economy and economy.
Made with the finest slightly-roasted barley and hops, Betsy Beer 2.0 features great notes of toffee and biscuit and a smooth, clean finish, whether you’re sipping it in the clouds or on the ground, in one of the airline’s lounges at Hong Kong International Airport.
