As it climbs back from a few tough years, Cathay Pacific launches a new Aria business class on its long-haul 777s.
If you’re lucky enough to turn left when you travel, either for work or pleasure, you might like to plan ahead for one of the launch routes for Cathay’s new Aria business class seat, which has been six years in the making.
While it will certainly look familiar to CX regulars – the airline has retained the herringbone layout and lie-flat format – the new Aria business class, which is being rolled out on the airline’s 777-300ER aircraft (it has been launched on the Hong Kong – Beijing route) promises a holistic and immersive experience, according to the airline, with intuitive lighting and plenty of storage.
Exciting new aspects include a sliding door that creates a space with more privacy (no more bruised elbows for those aisle lovers), lighting with pre-sets for different flight activities, and a 24-inch 4K ultra-high-definition monitor, the largest ever offered by the airline – oh, and its Bluetooth enabled.
You’ll also find built-in wireless charging under the armrest as well as USB-C, USB-A and AC power points; a large tray (complete with a personal device holder) that can be moved in four directions; hidden storage nooks for life’s little essentials; and natural wool fabrics that promise to be more breathable.
The new-look aircraft will also feature new premium economy and economy cabins, with the former boasting leather headrests with customisable wings and padded footrests. The retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER is configured in a three-class layout with a total of 361 seats, comprising 45 flat-bed Business, 48 Premium Economy, and 268 Economy seats.
