Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort is best known for its gentle pachyderms and its domed suites, which let you get up close and personal with the camp’s resident wildlife. However, its newest addition, Canopy, promises to be a strong contender for your attention.
Canopy is a tree-top dining experience unlike any other. You’ll climb to 52 metres (that’s the equivalent of 18 Asian elephants and 16 of their African cousins) above the camp, where you’ll settle into your open-sided dining capsule. Reminiscent of a beehive, and built using local materials, the Canopy capsule speaks to the resort’s eco-conscious ethos and offers 360-degree views of the jungle, which you can soak up while you wait for your waiter to make his way up the ladder.

Whether your idea of romance is an early morning breakfast, complete with binoculars so can observe the stirring of life below; a leisurely lunch that includes a culinary exploration of regional tastes as the jungle; or a candle-lit dinner under a canopy of stars, then this is the Northern Thai treetop dining capsule for you.
You’ll be able to choose from one of three curated menus, the dishes of which are served in traditional Pinto containers: the Mekong Discovery menu pays homage to the region’s culinary heritage, featuring dishes like Laotian riverweed paired with zesty yellowfin tuna larb; and Chiang Rai-styled curried pork on roasted rice toast.

Alternatively, the Culinary Adventure is a fusion of Eastern tradition and Western innovation – think tender wagyu short ribs on artisanal bread rolls, Phuket lobster wrap with local avocados, and baked Royal Projects figs in crème brûlée, and native strawberry with mint in choux pastry.
But for a real showstopper, opt for the Gourmet Odyssey, which elevates local cuisine with luxurious ingredients like wagyu M5 beef, king scallops, and Royal Projects caviar, with desserts ranging from kaffir lime financier to rose and pumpkin mousse, and burnt coconut crème brûlée.
Just be sure you’ve attended to nature’s call before climbing your dining tree.
