Two of our favourite things have been combined to create a festival this month in Hong Kong. All hail Brew in the City!
Picture yourself marooned on a desert island (sadly alone), thousands of miles from help. There are many things you will be able to live without, and a few that you will probably enjoy parting with (iPhones, we’re looking at you). However, we’re pretty sure that given a choice, morning coffee to spike you into firewood gathering momentum, and a cold beer to celebrate said collection, are two things that will top your wish list.
Fortunately, you can take a moment out of your hectic urban existence with Brew in the City, a festival that celebrates both coffee and beer. Held at Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui October 11-13 (that’s this weekend fella) and Oct 18-20, Brew in the City welcomes with an army of over 30 coffee roastery and craft beer brewery booths as well as some insightful activities and competitions, all backdropped with staggering views from the Ocean Terminal Deck.
Look out for freshly brewed speciality coffee by Mr. Lobby Coffee Project, which pairs coffee with fruit; Single Origin Espresso & Roast from Taiwan, designer of the popular origami dripper in Japan; and Trunk Coffee from Japan at the first weekend. You can also watch baristas battle it out at the first-ever publicly held HK Aeropress Championship, in which over 70 coffee junkies compete for caffeinated glory.
There will also be immersive coffee and beer tasting experiences, workshops and giveaways and be sure to look out for a special coffee-infused Brew in the City beer by Hong Kong brewery H.K. Lovecraft and local speciality coffee roaster Roastwork.
It gets your heart racing and your inhibitions dissolving just thinking about it.
