When Audi released the original R8 in 2006, it was a game-changer for the road-ready sports car scene. The new Audi R8 Spyder V10 Plus, from the workshop of Audi Sport GmbH, takes things to the next level, as the fastest series-production convertible model from the brand with the four rings.
The unmistakable 610 hp V10 mid-engine of the Audi R8 Spyder V10 Plus offers intense driving performance and powers the quattro permanent all-wheel drive. In addition, the standard performance program, R8 bucket seats, and the many components made from carbon fibre-reinforced polymer, distinguish this high-performance beauty – even the exclusive ‘micrommata’ green paint finish gives the V10 Plus a Ginsu-sharp cutting-edge look.

The most powerful series-production engine from Audi, the V10 mid-engine outputs 449 kW (610 hp) allowing the plus model can sprint up to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds. Coupled with lightning-quick responsiveness and an awe-inspiring, voluminous sound, the V10 mid-engine is an object of fascination. Compared with the Audi R8 Spyder V10, the naturally aspirated 5.2 FSI engine features a 52 kW (70 hp) boost in performance, and sometimes that’s all you need.
You can get the most out of this green monster thanks to ground-breaking efficiency technologies, which include the cylinder on demand (COD) system, which deactivates one cylinder bank at low to medium loads, as well as dual injection in the intake manifold and combustion chambers. If the driver lets off the accelerator at a speed of over 55 km/h, the engine disconnects from the drive and the new R8 Spyder V10 Plus coasts at idle with minimal fuel consumption; when it comes to a stop, a start-stop system deactivates the engine entirely.

Behind the V10’s statistics is a seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission with lightning-fast action that sends power to the quattro drive system in the front axle via a cardan shaft. The car’s electro-hydraulically activated multi-plate clutch is water-cooled for maximum performance.
Management of the clutch is integrated into the Audi drive select dynamic driving system, which gives the driver a choice between the comfort, auto, dynamic and individual modes. The standard performance mode ‘dry’, ‘wet’, and ‘snow’ adapt the characteristics of the drive system and suspension to the friction coefficient of the road, to ensure an exhilarating driving experience no matter the conditions.
