Celebrate the women defining the whisky scene at Hong Kong’s newest whisky haunt, The ThirtySix.
The whisky industry is often seen as a male-dominated scene. However, several women are now leading the charge, producing spectacular single malt and blended whiskies at some of the world’s best distilleries and this month, The ThirtySix Bar & Co, and its all-female bar team celebrates their contribution with a showcase of drams that will appeal to all
A series of selected whiskies are available at The ThirtySix Bar & Co by the pour or the bottle. If drinking whisky straight isn’t your thing, have one of the bar team craft a signature highball or classic cocktail using your chosen poison.
Whiskies on offer include the award-winning Dewar’s 12YO The Ancestor Double Aged, a blended malt crafted by Master Blender Stephanie Macleod; the Douglas Laing Scallywag, made from Speyside malts selected by whisky expert Cara Laing; and globally-recognised Johnnie Walker Black Label, the creation of Master Blender Emma Walker.
Other top drops include Compass Box Whisky Hedonism The Muse, a blended grain whisky by Master Blender Jill Boyd that was produced to celebrate women in whisky at a time when Compass Box employed more women than men; Swedish whisky Mackmyra Brukswhisky, made by Master Blender Angela D’Orazio and based on bourbon cask matured spirit with some sherry casks and fresh Swedish oak added to the mix; Penderyn Single Malt Welsh Whisky Sherrywood, crafted by Master Blender Aista Jukneviciute and Distillery Manager Laura Davies; and BenRiach Cask Strength – Batch 1, a cask-strength Speyside single malt produced by Master Blender Rachel Barrie.
